Our
featured stylist this month is Jeffrey Sacino,
hair stylist to the stars.
His work on the "West Wing", staring Martin Sheen,

His

Out series kicks off with a tour of all of your
favorite indulgences including spa treatments,
a luxurious limo ride and shopping at downtown
Glendale's "That
Thursday Thing".
Upon arrival at The Lamar
you will be given a private dressing room & robe
and ushered into the atrium to begin your day of
pampering, which includes a mid afternoon spa lunch.
After
lunch you will board your private limo, for a leisurely
drive across town for an evening of shopping and
culinary journey.
Kick off the summer season
in downtown Glendale with extended evening shopping
hours and an opportunity to sample "Downtown
Dish," the seventh
edition of Historic Downtown's cookbook.
Visitors
will begin their culinary journey at the Glendale
Visitor Center, located at 5800 W. Glenn Drive,
Suite 140, where they will receive a list of merchants
who have recipes highlighted in the book. Participants
will then go on a culinary journey to pick up the
recipe labels to complete their cookbook. As shoppers
tour through the area, many participating shops,
restaurants and museums will offer samples of their
recipe. The cookbook will be distributed on a first-come,
first-serve basis.
Live entertainment is located
throughout Old Towne and Catlin Court. Enjoy an
evening filled with live entertainment, free horse-drawn
carriage rides, fun giveaways and much more! Ollie
the Trolley will provide free trolley rides throughout
Old Towne and Catlin Court (starts at the Visitor
Center.) Start your night at the Glendale Visitor
Center to pick up your event map, goodie bag with
coupons and take a spin on our themed prize wheel.
The
third Thursday of each month from October to May
offers visitors to the area a late night shopping
experience, with interactive promotions and special
discounts.

Our Live At The Lamar
concert series continues this month with a guest
who was so popular last month, we just had to bring
him back. Everyone who attended Mark's April concert
said they were coming back with their friends.
Admission is free and includes use of the steam
room, sauna, swimming pool, whirlpool, robes, lockers & tropical
snack bar. Swim, steam, sauna, sip and sing along

CHOCOLATE ESPRESSO CHEESECAKE
|
- 20 reduced-fat chocolate wafers crumbled
- 4 teaspoons light butter melted
-
3 tablespoons instant espresso powder
- 3 tablespoons coffee-flavored liqueur
- 2 cups fat-free ricotta cheese
- 1 ½ Cups fat free
sour cream
- 6 oz fat-free cream cheese, softened
- 6 oz reduced fat cream cheese, softened
- 1 ¼ Cup sugar
- 6 Tablespoons flour
- 4 egg whites
- 1 Cup baking cocoa
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

Combine cookie crumbs and butter in a bowl and mix well. Spray 9-inch spring form pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Press the crumb mixture evenly into the bottom of the pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove and cool to room temperature.
Combine espresso powder and liqueur in a small bowl. Stir until powder dissolved. Place ricotta cheese in cheesecloth or a clean dish-towel and squeeze out as much moisture as possible.
Transfer to a mixing bowl and beat at high speed until pureed. Add sour cream, cream cheese, sugar, flour, egg whites, baking cocoa, salt and cinnamon; beat well.
Pour mixture over cooled crust. Bake at 325 degrees for approximately 1 hour. Turn off oven, but leave the cake in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes longer.
Remove and cool to room temperature. Garnish with white chocolate shavings, if desired. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. Makes 16 servings. |
