NEW SPA DIRECTOR…sort of

Every once in a while, someone comes along that fits into the team so quickly and so well that you forget that they haven’t always been there. That doesn’t mean you should forget to mention them in the newsletter (which I did the last several issues) Kimberlee Mellon has been responsible for many elegant spas over the years, including The Naples Beach Hotel, Ritz-Carlton, Little Palm Island in The Florida Keys, and, most recently, The Doral in Princeton. Luckily for The Lamar, Kimberlee, an ASU graduate, decided to return to the Phoenix area. Her unwavering dedication to customer service, strong track record of team building and passion for the possibilities of The Lamar Everyday Spa make her a welcome and unforgettable addition to our team.

CONCIERGE CASTAWAYS

The first concierge and event planners luau and open house was a hit. Hospitality planners from local hotels including The Phoenician, Marriott, Camelback, Renaissance, Chaparral Suites and more enjoyed live steel drum music by the pool, island-style catering & tropical drinks too. For many, this was their first time inside the Lamar, but hopefully, not their last! Drawings were held throughout the evening, for prizes like spa gear & services. The grand prizewinner, Karen Kapinos, a concierge at The Scottsdale Plaza Resort took home a pair of Suns Tickets

HELLO STUDIYO!

You may have noticed, we have a new neighbor in The Lamar Building. StudiYo of Scottsdale, in partnership with Bei Bella Pregnancy Spa, opened their doors last month. Whether you are a Mom to be, a stressed out executive or just someone who wants to get in better shape, this Zen den has classes for you. Open 7 days a week, StudiYo offers spinning, Pilates, yoga and a variety of other options to accommodate every fitness level. Bei Bella, a first of it’s kind pregnancy spa, features a tranquil Womb Room, where you can relax in massage chairs, take a peek-a-boo Prenatal sonogram session or stay in shape with YoMomma Yoga. If you are in the neighborhood on Halloween Night, bring the kids by The Lamar to trick-or-treat. We will have full size candy bars for the kids and Spa Treats for adults too! Tour both The Lamar and StudiYo and you could win a pair of Phoenix Suns tickets!

MEMBERSHIP HAS IT’S PRIVELEGES

Many of you have requested that we offer a membership program, so we took your advice! There are now two types of memberships available to meet the needs of both Snow Birds and Permanent residents. Both Membership Programs allow frequent guests of The Lamar to receive a substantial discount on services, facility use and retail.

Lamar Everyday Spa Memberships 

6-month membership: $70 per month

 (Total Savings over $4500)

The $30 per day facility charge is waived, allowing the guest to use the facilities at any time during regular business hours.

• Receive a 10% discount on all services and retail items Monday-Thursday

1-Year membership: $50 per month

 (Total Savings over $9,400)

• All of the benefits of the 6-month membership plus a 20% discount when booking parties of 10 or more Monday- Thursday 
• A complementary VIP ticket to Private Lamar events

NEW FACES AT THE LAMAR

As we grow, we are committed to making sure our service continues to exceed your expectations. To facilitate your needs, we have added some new members to The Lamar family. Please join us in welcoming them.

Kim is originally from Texas, Kim, and his wife of 19 years, have lived in many places, including Europe. He has studied Oriental Medicine & is instructor of Qi Gong. Kim is a member of the executive committee of the Arizona Society of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture.

Brook relocated to Phoenix from Indiana 13 years ago. When she is not at The Lamar, Brook enjoys traveling with her husband and reading.  Hot Rock Treatments are Brook’s specialty. She says she loves giving them because they are so relaxing for the guest.

Darla is originally from Colorado, where she has been a therapist for many years. She is the busy mother of two sons, but still makes time to continue her education.  Darla is working on her certification for Watsu, which we are looking forward to adding to our menu soon.

Jamie, one of our wonderful new Nail Technicians is originally from New York. Jamie loves to travel in Caribbean and recently was featured in an Allure Magazine Nail Art Segment.

Shawna is one of the friendly new voices you may hear when you call the spa. Originally from Colorado, Shawna moved to Phoenix to be near her family. When she is not assisting guest at The Lamar she enjoys playing soccer.

Nicole is attending Aesthetic School full-time and will be assisting our guests in the evenings. Her passion for skin care makes her a valuable addition to the Lamar team.

Amy is the newest member of our front desk team, but her calm manner and dedication to customer service make her a natural! Amy is originally from Idaho, enjoys camping and volleyball and is busily planning for her wedding in December.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: WILMA

We would like to recognize our Employee of The Month, Wilma Boschee, from the Housekeeping Department. Wilma was selected by her co-workers for her dependability, hard work and constant smile. One of the ballots expressed the Lamar Team’s sentiments best “Therapists often get praised but Wilma works so quietly, that she sometimes gets overlooked. She always goes the extra mile to make sure our spa is perfect for our guests and her hard work makes us all look good”.  As our employee of the month, Wilma will receive priority parking, a paid day off, $100 dining voucher and a pair of Suns tickets.
