Welcome back to the Club Lamar Star, March
2007 |
Arizona may not observe
day light savings time, but with our busy lives,
it can still seem like we are losing an hour somewhere.
Spring is a great time to clean out the closets,
stretch our legs and enjoy some of the great Scottsdale
traditions like Spring Training. During this season,
make sure you find time to stop and smell the cactus
blossoms!

First stop in Scottsdale, The Lamar Everyday
Spa where you may take a trip without leaving town
You survived the Holidays and the New Year but
while you were busy taking care of your families,
you ran out of time and energy for each other.
What you need is a week on a sunny island to reconnect,
but you used all your vacation during the holidays.
Escape may be closer than you think, thanks to
a new trend: the coed spa.
Traditionally, spas have
been segregated into "his
and hers" sides, so spending a spa day together
was a bit of a challenge. A new breed of co-ed
spas is breaking down the barriers so couples can
enjoy massages, steam room, sauna, whirlpool, swimming
and lunch, all without losing sight of one another.
"Our Trip For Two has become one of our
most requested spa packages," says Heidi Lamar,
owner of The Lamar Everyday Spa in Scottsdale.
The package, which includes a side-by-side massage
for two in the couple's suite, two facials and
two body wraps or scrubs as well as all day use
of the facilities, for $550, is like a mini vacation
without the jet lag. A gourmet pool-side spa lunch
can also be added for $15 per person.
A skilled massage therapist can untie weeks
worth of knots, in just an hour and a well trained
aesthetician can smooth out quite a few years'
fine lines too. An Algae wrap works miracles, detoxifying
your system and a Body Scrub can give you back
the baby soft skin you forgot you had. Mud wraps
are a wonderful way to fight winter dryness while
tightening and toning your skin too.
Soaking in the whirlpool, sitting in the sauna,
or steaming with your sweetie, can make even a
few hours feel like a real vacation. You may only
be a few miles from home, but your troubles will
seem much further away when you are splashing in
the pool!
With the many luxurious
spas located throughout the southwest, you and
your partner may now take a trip without ever leaving
home. In the
Phoenix area contact The Lamar Everyday Spa in
Scottsdale or consult your directory for a spa
near you.

HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY, SCOTTSDALE SCVB! |
In
1987, the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce formed
the Convention & Visitors Bureau division, making
this year - 2007 - the CVB's 20th anniversary! |
 |
For the past 20 years, the CVB
has positioned Scottsdale as a world-class vacation,
meetings and group travel destination, bringing
together the diverse tourism community of Scottsdale
to help ensure that our destination and your business
remain top of mind. |
The Scottsdale CVB
has made huge strides in branding our community
and selling the uniqueness of our experience. The
Scottsdale CVB has enjoyed a wonderful journey
from the initial efforts of a two-person department
in 1987 to a major organization with more than
45 employees.
The SCVB's efforts have been
instrumental in introducing The Lamar to media
opportunities throughout the US and abroad. They
continue to be one of our hardest working and most
valuable partners.
We toast their success. Unfortunately,
they will not be old enough to drink for another
year. |

The birth of the Blue Thong Society happened
just one year ago, in San Diego and now boasts
22 Arizona Chapters, including the newest Scottsdale
chapter, The Spa Day Divas, hosted by The Lamar
Everyday Spa.
The catalyst for the Blue Thong Society
was one woman's 50th birthday, and her uneasy feeling
that a red hat and purple dress were not defiant
enough symbols for debunking middle age. The Arizona
Republic's story "Wine Women and Thong" Oct 11, 2006 was picked up by Gannet News Service and was featured in dozens of their papers, nationally.
In less than a year, the group begun by four women sipping Chardonnay in California has grown into an estimated 1200-member organization with 70 chapters in California, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii and New Mexico. "Blue Thongers", whose age ranges from 30's on up, gather monthly to have fun, make new friends and "fight frump."
Their logo features an image that is either a flip-flop or a pair of panties, depending on how you look at it. The Spa Day Divas first meeting was held at The Lamar in January and featured pot-luck appetizers, drinks and a complimentary spa tasting.
For more information on upcoming Blue Thong Society
Events, see www.bluethongsociety.com
You may choose an additional gift as well: one of 3 body oils, formulated to meet your specific needs: Slim, Energize or Relax. Each comes in it's
own pink Yon-Ka keepsake box and is valued at $3 |
