SALON LAMAR WELCOMES JEFFREY O!

Our full service hair salon is happy to welcome our newest team member, Jeffrey O. Fernandez. At 19, Jeffrey was one of the youngest make up artists who ever apprenticed with CHANEL cosmetics. He was starting get buzz in the industry when opportunity came knocking again.
This time, from the Estee Lauder group, the reining champion of the cosmetic world, and owner of over 40 major makeup companies. Here Jeffrey worked with every line under the Estee Lauder label, including Prescriptives, Elizabeth Arden, M.A.C., Stella, Knars, and Bobby Brown. Training at the AVEDA academy in Denver Colorado, while still holding his position with Estee Lauder, Jeffrey quickly excelled and fell in love with the art of hair.

Jeffrey was named number two on Denver's list of 30 people under 30 to watch in 2006. Jeffrey brings his love of cosmetics and hair to The Lamar along with his passion to make every woman look and feel beautiful.

"BESPOKE" IS NEW TREND FOR WELL-HEELED TRAVELERS

"Bespoke" is another word for customized travel, and it's one of the latest trends for travelers. For the rich, that is, who are viewing it as the preferred way to see the world, says Canada's Globe and Mail. "For a minimum of $300 a person a day, or as much as $900,000 over two weeks, you can customize a vacation down to every last detail," the newspaper said.
With bespoke travel, tourists sit down with personal vacation planners months ahead of leaving to design an itinerary, book accommodations and deal with special requests.
Need a private yacht to sail down the Balkan coast? No problem. Want to smoke Cuban cigars on a trek through the Northwest Territories? Bespoke agencies will ensure there's a stocked humidor at the local lodge. Pamela Lassers, a trip planner with Abercrombie & Kent, a U.S.-based agency, says she has seen all kinds of custom requests, the newspaper said. (TravelMole.com, May 24)

The June issue of Health Magazine featured The Lamar in a segment titled "Spa treatments for the brokenhearted" Forget drowning your relationship sorrows in a pint of Chunky Monkey. Head to a spa that wants to pamper your blues away.
The "I Will Survive" package ($375) from The Lamar Everyday Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona, includes a 70-minute yoga class and four treatments: hot-stone massage, scalp treatment, facial and algae wrap to remove toxins like poisoned relationships."

The article also mentioned the multi-location Bliss Spa and the aptly named Spa at Split Rock in Wilton, Connecticut.

The Lamar Everyday Spa was recently voted one of the best Day Spas in Phoenix by the users of Citysearch. The final votes are being tallied now so we will announce our final status as soon as we hear!

STRAWBERRY MERINGUE PIE

  • 2 Cups Strawberries, cooked and mashed
  • 1 Cup freshly Sliced Strawberries
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • ½ Cup Egg Whites
  • ¼ Teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • ¼ Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2 Tablespoons Crushed Graham Crackers per serving

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mash strawberries with the sugar and salt and bring to a boil. Mix the cornstarch with a little water and add to the boiling mixture. Let boil for another minute. Add the freshly sliced strawberries to the cooked mixture. Crush the graham crackers into crumbs in ramekins, Fill ramekins with the strawberry mixture. Add cream of tartar to egg whites and beat on high speed until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla while whisking. Top each filled ramekin with meringue and bake until browned, about 12 minutes. Makes 14 servings.
