JANUARY'S "HOT DEAL":
DETOXIFY YOURSELF: $10 OFF ANY BODY WRAP |
Overindulged during the holidays? Don't worry; you can get yourself back on track in no time with a Moor Mud or Warm Algae Wrap.
Eliminate toxins, retained fluids, dry flaky winter-skin and stress with either of these luxurious body treatments. |
 |
|
Hydrating Warm Algae Wrap
Detoxify and re-mineralize your skin with warm, protein rich sea algae. First, your entire body is cleansed and exfoliated. Next, a pure, micronized algae paste is applied to your body. Wrapped in a blanket to seal in the warmth, you'll relax for 25 minutes as the algae's iodine, vitamins and minerals seep into your skin. Simultaneously hydrating and detoxifying, the algae stimulates circulation and improves elasticity. A hydrating crème is applied, leaving the skin feeling silky smooth.
Hydrating Warm Algae Wrap
After a thorough exfoliation, your body is wrapped in deliciously warm Moor Mud, an organic deep-black bog mud containing thousands of plant extracts and trace elements. Cocooned in a warm blanket to help the ingredients penetrate your skin, you relax for 25 minutes as this sterile mud draws out impurities and stimulates circulation.
After the mud is removed, the treatment finishes with the application of hydrating body silk lotion and a light massage with a calming oil. You'll feel energized from head to toe. |

Bamboo Floor Combines Island Style & Eco-Responsibility |
Our recent expansion plans required quite a few choices and we tried to make as many of them eco-friendly as possible. The new Palm Room, which features over 1000 square feet of event space, will be used for parties, banquets and team building events, so durability was crucial.
We chose Bamboo floors because they are 10% harder than oak and their quick growth makes them eco-friendly as a sustainable architectural element. |
 |
| A bamboo plant typically reaches maturity in 5 years, compared to 50 years for other hardwoods. The golden color of our new floors comes from a process called carbonization. Instead of using dyes or stains, the bamboo is steamed, until the natural sugars break down and create a caramel color. Adding a hair salon, more treatment rooms, a new break room for our team and doubling the size of our nail salon, is a great opportunity for us to grow responsibly as we endeavor to create a destination spa that truly benefits the community everyday. |
Feeling Blue? |
Soothe your soul with spa therapies designed to lift your spirits and help mend your aching heart.
|
ANYONE WHO'S EVER SUFFERED FROM A BROKEN HEART KNOWS HOW ACCURATE THIS expression can be: the sensation is often akin to the feeling of jagged shards of glass piercing the chest. The experience of sorrow, whether from grief, loss, or a broken heart, can have profound manifestations throughout the body, and many health experts believe that these emotions, if left unresolved, can be the catalyst for a host of illnesses.
In fact, research supports the premise that we store emotions in our tissues and muscles - that the body, in fact, carries feelings.
You can take heart in the knowledge that massage and other body therapies can help you to release deeply held emotions and negative memories, allowing your body and heart to heal. Studies by psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, spiritual healers, and others from various health backgrounds have long maintained that the need for human touch is basic to our overall well-being.
The emotions that surface in response to massage and other body treatments - especially when administered by a knowledgeable and sensitive therapist can help us let go of deeply stored or painful memories through a process of cognitive recall that is triggered by meaningful touch.

SPA TRENDS SHOW REHABILITATION MORE IMPORTANT THAN RELAXATION

|

Fashionable travelers take note: the top spa trends, as predicted by the spa information and research company Spa Finder Inc., are less about relaxation than rehabilitation. Gone are the days of the simple decadent massage.
Now, according to the spa-aficionados, intensive "de-tox spas," offering therapies to purge the body of "emotional baggage" and treatments like sweatings to rid it of toxins, are gaining in popularity. Spa Finder also says to look for resorts and hotels to offer themselves as "destination spas" that provide workshops, spiritual retreats and even "boot camps" and for many hotels to work harder at being green.
Another trend: "social spa-ing," in which guests can "connect, converse and play in the spa environment." (New York Times; Travel Advance, Dec. 11)
Coopers. "It is a dramatic change," said Bjorn Hanson, head of the PWC hospitality and leisure practice. (Business Travel News; Travel Advance, Nov. 10) |

New Year
Counting down the last few seconds on New Year's Eve is filled with emotion - all at once a swirl of bittersweet endings and hopeful beginnings. The passage of time is celebrated because time is limited and precious.
A new year affords the opportunity for reflection and renewal. Before dashing off into the flurry of activity that awaits you after the holiday interlude, it is wise to pause and consider where you are headed
An Opportunity for Renewal
Take a look at the various aspects of your life:
Relationships
Work, career, business
Financial health
Spiritual health, sense of connectedness
Physical health, energy level, vibrancy
Sense of purpose, contribution
Level of joy, peace, contentment
For each of these areas, ask yourself: If nothing were to change is that okay with me? If I continued on the same path, what would be the impact (to myself and others) six months from now? One year from now? Six years from now?
In certain areas, you may determine that you are on the right track. If this is the case, you will feel confident and assured as you move forward. Other areas may require a navigational adjustment. In some cases, a complete turnaround may be warranted. Once again, ask yourself a question:
Which area needs my attention first?
Now, set an intention for that area. It can be as simple as: This year I will take charge of my finances in a new way. This year I will explore what's next for me in my career. This year I will seek ways to nurture my spirit. This year I will invest in my relationship with _________.
You don't need to know all the how(s) and when(s). More specific actions to take will emerge in the coming days. Just declare your intention, make a decision, a promise, a commitment. Each new year -and each new day- gives us the chance to assess, adjust, and renew.
"If we are facing the right direction, all we have to do is keep walking."
- Buddhist Proverb
