CITY OF SCOTTSDALE NEWS: NEW TROLLY HOURS

Scottsdale 's Downtown Trolley will be easier to use. As of July 1, regular hours have been extended and Sunday service added. Based on positive feedback from customers, residents and businesses, Downtown Trolley service will now be available seven days a week. In addition, service hours will extend until 9 p.m. everyday. Greater availability of the Downtown Trolley will improve transportation options for downtown employees, residents and visitors. Catering to the growing number of women business travelers, hotels are customizing their services to make them feel at home and secure. At Don Shula's Hotel & Golf Club in Miami Lakes, for example, the hotel has introduced the Patrician Floor, 18 rooms set aside exclusively for women business travelers. The designated floor is designed to make women feel secure and offers added perks, pampering and customization that cater not only to their individual needs but also to their whims. The idea for the Patrician Floor was a response to the increase in women business travelers. "Forty percent of today's business travelers are women," said Barbara Cambria, Shula's vice president of marketing. "Since the floor was inaugurated, it has run at 95 percent occupancy." Wyndham, AmeriSuites, Hyatt Regency and Marriott are among chains that offer special services for women guests. ( Miami Herald; Travel Advance, July 31)

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: Cherrie Avina

Please join us in congratulating your choice for Employee of the Month, Cherrie Avina. Cherrie was recently promoted to Lead Nail Tech and her department has blossomed under her meticulous care. Before joining The Lamar, Cherrie had a thriving clientele of glamorous stars in Los Angeles. She brings her passion for perfection with her treating every client like a star and trains her nail techs to do the same. The guests who voted for Cherrie had many reasons for their choice, but the resounding theme was quality. Nearly every e-mail included the sentiment: "Cherrie’s work is consistently great. I have never had a manicure or pedicure last so long!" As our August Employee of the Month, Sherrie will receive a commemorative trophy, priority parking and a pair of tickets to a local event of her choice.
